Render performance of screens

Question

Hi all,

As my base is getting bigger I'm also getting a decrease in FPS. Of course this is to be expected. However, I am investigating the major causes in the hope that I can perhaps still optimize things here and there. One thing I noticed with Opis is that the screens from OpenComputers are rather slow on the render side. When a lot has to be shown on a screen that is to be expected but what surprised me is that a screen for a computer that is turned off is also very high in the top. Even when that screen is basically just black. Is there a reason for this?

Thanks!

Yeah, screens don't check for the actual 'content' up until now, only the power state. I've added such a check, slightly increased effort to compute the 'fill rate' but that's only done once a second or so anyway, so it shouldn't be (very) noticeable, and truly blank screens won't try to render their blank contents anymore.
