Voidi 0
I use OpenComputers a lot for automating the more complex machines, with refined rules for item placement. For example, the maybe well know Autospawner from MFR A Computer with Adapterblock plus Inventory_Controller knows the content of an Inventory, but for moving things I must use a robot. This works, but most of the time, i wish i could use a normal computer: This robots doesn't need to move They require an extra charger The don't have other screens then Tier 1 They are not so flexibel with cards like computers. Conclusion: except from the inventor upgrade, it is seems unnecessary to use robots for stationary item sorting things. My suggestion would be a Tier 2 and 3 Adapter block with more upgrade Slots. With a inventory upgrade, they can move items around, similar like a robot now. Greetings Voidi
Sangar 92
Sounds what you really want is some kind of computer controlled hopper-ish thing? Could be interesting, I guess, though it'd somewhat reduce the usefulness of robots and drones, of course...
Voidi 0
Yes, the computer controlled hoppish thing might be a solution. My first thoughts about that topic, were: "Shouldn't the primary reason to use robots, there mobility and not there ability to move items?" But maybe i didn't take into account how other players uses robots. There are other features restricted to robots, which doesn't correspond their mobility
dgelessus 26
A "computer hopper" would still only be able to transfer items from and to blocks directly next to it, anything more would require multiple blocks or robots. Using an entire robot just to shift a few items is kinda ridiculous. Maybe there should be multiple tiers of "computer hopper" as well. Tier 1 is basically a glorified hopper that can pull (from above) and push (to a fixed side) on command. Tier 2 can handle stacks and reorganize its internal inventory to control which item to push next. Tier 3 can dynamically change input and output sides.
