"too many open connections"

Question

Hey there. This is a crucial error I am experiencing. This is my code:

function syncSwitches()
    local ios = getRedstoneAddresses()
    print("Starting to sync. This may take a while.")
    for line in io.lines("addresses.txt") do
        local request = internet.request(apiUrl, {
            key = apiKey,
            action = "sync",
            address = line
        })
        print("Synced '" .. line .. "'.")
        os.sleep(2)
    end
    print("Switches synced!")
    os.sleep(1)
    handleUserInput()
end

It get's me the error "too many connections" at line 95 (here, the local request = ... line). What am I doing wrong? I have no idea and there are literally no other cases like me (there used to be one, but that's almost seven years ago: https://github.com/MightyPirates/OpenComputers/issues/2255 and now the request.close() function does not exist/error with cannot close a table).

Any help/suggestions?

Regards, Forsaken Maiden
